For whom is an IntraLASIK surgery suitable?
In general, laser surgeries are suitable for patients ages 18 and up, who suffer from near-sightedness or far-sightedness and/or astigmatism, whose prescription has been stable for half a year before their surgery suitability test. IntraLASIK surgery is suitable, among others, for individuals who could not be treated in the past, such as individuals with:
- Thin corneas
- High near-sightedness and astigmatism
- Far-sightedness
- Particularly wide pupils
- Sunken eyes
- Small eye apertures
How is the suitability test for an IntraLASIK operation conducted?
Comprehensive and meticulous suitability testing of the eyes is vital to the success of the operation, and it examines data such as: corneal thickness, prescription (optical condition), corneal topography, intra-ocular pressure, eye conditions and physiological issues such as dryness of the eyes etc. The suitability test at the Dr. Levinger Eyes medical centers involves a comprehensive diagnosis of the eye, and takes more than 3 hours, including wait times.
For some candidates deemed unsuitable for laser vision correction surgery, vision may be corrected by by intraocular lens (IOL) implants.

How is an IntraLASIK surgery performed?

- Corneal surface ablation The world-leading corneal ablation device, the Schwind Amaris 1050RS, includes advanced software that enables the surgeon to monitor and control the degree of corneal ablation in the most precise manner, alongside performing accurate tests before and during the surgery. Additionally, the device contains technologies for meticulously protecting eye safety, including: iris-recognition technology in 3,400 points on the iris, and eye movement tracking technology enabling continuous monitoring throughout the surgery in 7 dimensions.
Post-Surgery Guidelines
In general, laser surgeries are suitable for patients ages 18 and up, whose prescription has been stable for at least half a year before the surgery, and suffer from near-sightedness, far-sightedness and/or astigmatism. Treatment Guidelines
What should be done before IntraLASIK surgery?
Laser surgeries for eyeglasses removal are considered a short and safe procedure. However, the patient’s adherence to safety rules and the surgeon’s instructions is a necessary component in maintaining eye health before and after surgery and accelerating recovery.
- For contact lens wearers, do not wear soft lenses for at least 72 hours before surgery, hard lenses 10 days before surgery, and do not wear Ortho-K lenses 3 months before surgery.
- Do not wear makeup for about three days before surgery.
What should be done on the day of IntraLASIK surgery?
- Do not use perfume or aftershave on the day of surgery.
- It is recommended to wash your hair before surgery, as afterward, it is forbidden to wash hair for 3-5 days, depending on the type of surgery.
- Before arriving for surgery, it is recommended to eat only a light meal (no need to fast).
- Bring the drops prescribed by the doctor during the compatibility examination: antibiotic drops to prevent infection, steroid drops to accelerate healing, artificial tears to protect against dry eyes, a medical patch, and protective glasses for the recovery period.
- Come to surgery with an escort who will receive an explanation about post-surgery care in the first hours.
What should be done a day after IntraLASIK surgery?
- You should come for a follow-up the day after surgery. Until then, do not remove the eye shields.
- It is recommended to come for the follow-up with sunglasses.
Do’s and Don’ts for a week after IntraLASIK surgery:
- Use drops as directed by the doctor. Before instilling drops, wash hands thoroughly and ensure that the bottle and fingers do not touch the eye.
- You must sleep with eye shields for 3-7 nights, as directed by the doctor.
- Do not wash hair for 3-5 days and do not wet the eyes with tap water for 5 days.
- Do not engage in strenuous physical activity for 7-10 days to prevent sweat from entering the eyes.
- Come for a second follow-up a week after surgery. After that, as needed and as directed by the doctor.
Do’s and Don’ts for two weeks after INTRALASIK surgery:
Do not apply makeup or rub your eyes.
Do’s and Don’ts for a month after INTRALASIK surgery:
- Be sure to wear sunglasses.
- It is recommended to limit driving, especially at night.
- Do not swim in the sea, pool, or ritual bath (mikveh).
- Avoid direct trauma to the eyes.
- Be careful when in contact with small children and animals.
Q&A
Following the surgery, the main sensations include: mild pain, discomfort, dryness in the eye, sensitivity to sunlight and strong illumination, expressed as night glare, auras or double vision. These effects resolve within several weeks to several months.
Avoid getting your eyes wet for about 5 days following the operation.
You can wear make-up once two weeks have passed since the surgery.
You can resume driving following a very short period of time.
You can engage in physical activity that would not lead to sweating, such as walking, Pilates or lifting weights of up to 5 kg. After one month, you can engage in more strenuous physical activity.

There is no restriction.
In the first hours after surgery, there may be burning, dryness, and discomfort in the eyes. Near vision may be blurred in the first days. These symptoms resolve on their own, at most within a few weeks.
Complications in this surgery are very rare, including infection, and can be prevented if you follow the doctor’s instructions before and after surgery.
