כל המידע על Premium Lens Implants
What is a cataract?
With age progression, the natural lens in the eye loses its transparency and becomes cloudy. This cloudiness, known as “cataract” or “yarod” in Hebrew, causes blurring and dimness of vision. The decrease in vision is gradual and usually occurs in both eyes, with varying severity and rate.
Cataracts can significantly impair the quality of life of patients. In third world countries, vision loss due to cataracts leads to blindness.
Cataract treatment is a common and relatively short surgery, performed using a minimally invasive approach without stitches. During this procedure, the cloudy lens is removed from the patient and a transparent artificial lens is implanted in its place, which remains in the eye permanently.
The premium lens, implanted in surgery at Dr. Levinger, is a quality product of the world’s most advanced technology, providing a solution for improving vision quality and reducing the need for glasses.
Thanks to modern technology, cataract surgery is performed under local anaesthesia using anaesthetic eye drops. The procedure usually lasts about an hour, does not require hospitalization, and the patient is discharged home on the same day.
Q&A
Premium lenses are a revolutionary innovation in cataract surgeries. These provide clear vision ability for both distance and near, in each eye, and reduce dependence on glasses after surgery.
Premium lenses are fitted using a series of tests:
- OCT examination –
Retinal imaging, reflecting all layers of the retinal tissue and optic nerve. - Biometry examination –
Lens fitting using I.O.L MASTER - Refraction examination –
By a certified optometrist. - Corneal mapping –
Measurement of the topographic surface of the cornea. - Corneal endothelial cell count –
Ruling out problems or diseases in the endothelial cells (inner corneal layer).
Lenses with a single focus that correct vision for distance or near. When the patient is set for clear distance vision, they may need reading glasses for near vision after the surgery.
Multifocal lenses are a revolutionary innovation in cataract surgeries. These provide clear vision ability for both distance and near, in each eye, and reduce dependence on reading glasses after surgery.
Previously, one of the solutions employed to overcome the dependence on glasses after monofocal lens implantation was to set the dominant eye for clear distance vision and leave the second eye nearsighted, to allow near vision. However, not all patients were able to adjust to the difference between the eyes, and depth perception was impaired.
Toric lenses (TORIC IOL) are the best and most recommended technology today for cataract patients with cylinder (astigmatism). This lens successfully corrects the corneal distortion, gives the patient improved vision quality, and reduces dependence on glasses.RetryClaude can make mistakes. Please double-check responses.
